A trip to the theatre in Yeovil, Somerset.

We're lucky to have the Octagon Theatre local to Ilchester. Situated in Yeovil they often have many brilliant acts on. For example we're looking forward to seeing Joe Mcelderry as part of his Evolution tour on the 15th May!!

As part of your stay in the area why not give the Octagon Theatre a look and see what's on?

The Fleet Air Arm Museum

The Fleet Air Arm Museum is home to the largest collection of naval aircraft in Europe and people come from all over the world to see it!!
The Yeovilton Air Day is probably one of the most popular days out for many, attracting thousands of visitors as one of the best shows in Europe.

The museum is only a five minute drive from the hotel, or if you fancy, on one of our many fine days a half hour stroll in the fresh countryside air!!

A great night had by all!

A Wealth of Character

Situated in the historic town of Ilchester, The Ilchester Arms is a charming building full of character and offers the perfect setting to eat, drink and relax.

First licensed in 1686 the hotel was originally known as the George Tavern, The Swan that shared the same site and was the favourite haunt of the Llewellen Powys, the writer (1884 - 1939).

In 1894 The George became a drapers shop run by Eli Wilson & Son until 1925 when a fire destroyed the drapery stock and shop fittings. The company may still be found in the local town of Yeovil today.

The building then became the Ivelchester hotel until 1995 when it became the Ilchester Arms.

From 1962 - 1985 Mr Ken Seaton owned the hotel. It was in our cellars that the cheese we now recognise as Ilchester Cheese was first developed.

Just a stones throw away from the hotel, is the local museum, http://www.visitoruk.com/Yeovil/ilchester-museum-C567-AT4598.html ; Ilchester has a very rich and diverse history with Roman times being well documented.
